June Dive Festival on Bonaire Island
Environmentally-aware adventure travelers will learn about delicate reef conservation when marine authorities and dive enthusiasts alike converge on the tiny southern Caribbean island of Bonaire this summer for the Bonaire Dive Festival.
The popular festival includes a multitude of events, dives, demonstrations and in-person presentations from well-known dive and environmental personalities.
The Eighth Annual Bonaire Dive Festival will take place June 5-19, 2004. This year's Festival will be a full two weeks of exciting under water excursions, environmental seminars and parties. This annual event l focuses on educating divers and snorkelers about what they can do to protect marine ecosystems and coral reefs. A timely subject considering the oil spill that occured in the area in January.
Located eighty-six miles east of Aruba and well outside the hurricane belt, the Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire offers year-round sunshine, low annual rainfall, pristine coral formations and the most thriving fish population in the Caribbean.
